Bad Weather Arrangement

All participants are requested to note the respective contingency measures in the event of Tropical Cyclone (commonly known as “typhoon”) No. 8 (or above) Signal (or above), or the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal being issued during or before the commencement of the Asian Family Summit (hereafter “the Summit”).


Part A:
Pre-No.8 Signal Special Announcement or Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions

Part B:
Black Rainstorm Warning Signal

At 07:00 am
  • If the Pre-No. 8 (or above) Signal Special Announcement or the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is issued or in force, the morning sessions will be cancelled.

  • If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is issued but cancelled at 6:59 am or before, the Summit will continue as originally scheduled.
  • If the BLACK Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued or in force, the morning sessions will be cancelled. The Summit will resume at 2:00 pm with the programme adjusted.

  • If the BLACK Rainstorm Warning Signal is cancelled at 6:59 am or before, the Summit will continue as originally scheduled.
At 12:00 pm
  • After the morning session is cancelled, if the Pre-No. 8 (or above) Signal Special Announcement or the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is still effective at 12:00 pm, the afternoon programme of the Summit will be cancelled.

  • If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is cancelled at 11:59 am or before, the Summit will be resumed at 2:00 pm with the programme adjusted. Summit working staff members are reminded to return to the Summit as soon as possible. *The registration counter will be re-opened as soon as possible after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is cancelled.
  • If the BLACK Rainstorm Warning Signal, previously effective at 7:00 am, is still in force at 11:59 am, even it is subsequently cancelled at 12:00 pm, the afternoon programme of the Summit will be cancelled.

  • If the BLACK Rainstorm Warning Signal, previously effective at 7:00 am, is cancelled, the programme of the Summit will resume at 2:00 pm with the programme adjusted.
During Summit From 08:00 am to 06:00 pm
  • If the Pre-No. 8 (or above) Signal Special Announcement is issued during the Summit, the event will be closed in two hours after the announcement. In the unlikely situation where the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is issued without a pre-announcement, the Summit will be cancelled. The AFS Secretariat will notify the participants at once through the AFS website and via onsite announcement.
  • If the BLACK Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued during the Summit, the event will continue as participants should stay indoors or take shelter in a safe place until the heavy rain has passed. The AFS Secretariat will notify the participants at once through the AFS website and via onsite announcement.
Remarks: The Summit will continue as scheduled when the Standby Signal No.1 or the Strong Wind Signal No.3 is in force The Summit will continue as scheduled when the AMBER Rainstorm or RED Rainstorm is in force. After the morning session is cancelled, if the Pre-No. 8 (or above) Signal Special Announcement or the Tropical Cyclone Warning of the Summit will be cancelled.

If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or Extreme Conditions is cancelled at 11:59 am or before, the Summit will be resumed at 2:00 pm with the programme adjusted.
